Raft the mighty Tully River, regarded as the best rafting river across Australia and New Zealand.  

Each raft holds a maximum of seven passengers and one river guide, who teaches you the correct techniques during the day.

The river is rated a Grade 3-4, which means there are some exciting rapids and guaranteed water levels all year round.  It really is a very memorable, fun day with the World Heritage rainforest providing an unforgettable backdrop.

With over 27 rapids on the river, this is the longest rafting trip available. No experience is necessary to raft these Grade 4 rapids.

10am to 10pm Tully River Rafting
This itinerary includes a hearty pub dinner. If self-driving, the meeting point is the Feluga Hotel

  • Cairns : From 10am - 10pm
  • Mission: BeachPick-up From 11.45am - 9.15pm
  • Tully Golden Gumboot From 12.55pm - 8.15pm
  • Mission Beach Pick up from 11:45am - Cairns Drop off 10pm

The Tully Gorge is 2.5 hours from Cairns and 1 hour from Mission Beach.

10am to 10pm Times

10.00 - 11.00 Pick-ups from Cairns accommodation.
11.00 - 13.00 Depart for the scenic drive to Tully.
13.00 - 13.45 Rendezvous with other (self-drive) rafters at the Golden Gumboot (Tully), before we stop in Tully to grab a quick bite of lunch (optional, own cost).
13.45 - 14.30 Travel to the top of the Tully River Gorge and get fitted with rafting gear.
14.30 - 15.00 Meet your River Guide who will give you instructions before it's time to hit the water!
15.00 - 18.00 Raft the world-renowned Tully River conquering awesome grade 3 & 4 rapids!
18.00 - 19.15 Arrive at the take-out point and change into dry clothes before the short journey to the Feluga Hotel, a traditional Queensland country pub and the Tully home of Raging Thunder.
19.15 - 20.15 Indulge in a hearty pub dinner with your guide and crew, view photos of your trip and compare river stories surrounded by a living history of epic rafting on the Tully River!
20.15 - 22.00 Kick back and relax as we transfer you back to your accommodation.

Lunch for the 10am Pickup Option
You can bring your own lunch or purchase some lunch at the Feluga Hotel.
You will have around 45 mins at the Feluga Hotel so there is an opportunity to have some lunch there before you start rafting.

Self Drivers Meet at Tully
Self-driving participants should meet at the Banyan Plaza Shopping Centre in Tully, identifiable by the IGA sign. The bus from Cairns arrives there at 12:55 PM. Before boarding, guides will handle check-in and dinner preferences. A 30-minute drive leads to the Tully River rafting starting point. After gearing up with a rashie, helmet, and paddle, you’ll receive a brief 15-minute preparation from your guide. Rafting begins around 2:30 PM and concludes by 5 PM. Post-rafting, participants carry the rafts up a small trail and can change into dry clothes. There are no changing rooms, but public toilets are available for changing back at Banyan Plaza. Dinner follows at Feluga Hotel, a 10-minute drive up the highway.

Dinner at the Feluga Hotel
The Feluga Hotel is a traditional Australian pub located 15 minutes north of Tully. It's known for its traditional pub cuisine and casual dining experience. 
Dinner is included in the Tully River rafting experience.

Driving from Port Douglas
When booking choose the "Adventure House" Pickup point at 10.30am. 
This is where you can park your car for the day and join the tour.

What to Bring: 

  • Lace-up shoes or sandals that won't fall off your feet (can be hired on the day)
  • Swimming costume
  • Change of clothes (sweater for bus ride home)
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Money for souvenirs and snacks, photos etc.
  • Please do not wear any jewellery - it is recommended that you leave anything of value in your hotel safe for this trip.

Tully River Rafting Safety
Raging Thunder has over 30 years experience on the Tully River and a 100% commitment to white water rafting safety.

  • Minimum age is 13 years, and those under 18 must travel with a guardian or parent
  • Tully river rafting is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant
